Since their first concert in 2021, Oslo-based Gangar have established themselves as one of Norway’s most in-demand musical exports; with a fresh, original take on traditional Norwegian folk and roots music. They’ve forged a deep bond with audiences at home and abroad, playing shows all over Europe, including Finland’s Kaustinen Folk Music Festival, Germany’s Rudolstadt Festival, Estonia’s Viljandi Folk Music Festival, and the Groningen Performing Arts Festival in the Netherlands.
Gangar is scheduled to tour concerts and festivals in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Italy, Hungary, and Australia throughout 2023 and 2024. angar released their debut EP Tre Danser, on Heilo Records in the autumn of 2022, which Metal Storm called “a short but sweet EP” and “a promising sign of things to come”. In addition to Gangar, at the concert, you can hear and see the winner of the Young Folk Band 2023 - Lõõm!
Lõõm is a unique string quintet from Estonia, whose repertoire consists of jazz and traditional music, and the synthesis of these two genres. Lõõm explores the boundaries of string instruments, mimicking the jew's harp and percussion, thereby creating a symphonic and band-like atmosphere. Johan Aimla's experimental arrangements incorporate clever elements appealing to music enthusiasts ranging from classical music lovers to fanfare fans. Last year Lõõm won the competition "Young Folk Band 2023". The ensemble has performed at several festivals such as TUJA 2023, Viljandi Folk Music Festival 2023, and many venues across Estonia, including a concert in Germany.
