CHARLIE PORTER QUARTET at The International Trumpet Days 2024 • Rahvusvahelised Trompetipäevad

One of the most exciting jazz concerts of this spring in Tallinn is without a doubt the CHARLIE PORTER QUARTET´a concert on April 5th at Philly Joe´s Jazz Club, where the world-famous jazz and classical trumpeter Charlie Porter joins Estonian jazz-stars JÜRMO EESPERE (piano), ROBERT NÕMMANN (bass), ENO KOLLOM (drums)!


Charlie Porter is a Grammy Award-winning multi-genre trumpeter and composer who first cut his teeth on the New York jazz scene in the late ´90s, while simultaneously studying classical trumpet performance at the Julliard School under the tutelage of famed trumpeter and composer Winton Marsalis. 

Though he has recorded many albums as a side-musician, Porter has recorded three albums to date, as a leader, that have been garnering high praise, with three more to be released in 2024 (Live at Blue Llama, Cipher, and Portland Sketches). His 2019 release Immigration Nation was voted one of the best albums of the year by Downbeat. 


Charlie has toured the world as a side mand and band leader in jazz and also as a classical soloist and chamber musician, performing and recording with many notable musicians and groups over the last tweny years. His stage partners have included jazz greats such as Joe Zawinul, Winard Harper, Mike Longo, Paquito D´Rivera, Ira Sullivan and  Chuck Israels, among many others. 

His long and fruitful collaboration with conductor Kristjan Järvi, with whom he has founded the Absolute Ensemble, continues in Estonia on April 4 at St. John´s Church in Tallinn, where Charlie performs with the world-renown conductor and Tallinn Brass Academy a classical program for solo trumpet and joins the ensemble to showcase two of his own pieces.
