JT Conception feat. Mathias Heise "How Far Can You Go" (Eesti-Taani) • Jazzkaar 2024
The long-time favourite of local funk enthusiasts, groove orchestra JT Conception is coming to Jazzkaar to present their fresh album How Far Can You Go. For the band leader, bassist and composer Janno Trump this will also be the award concert of the Jazz Musician of the Year 2023. This time the ensemble led by Trump will join forces with the young Danish harmonica virtuoso and composer Mathias Heise. With his intricate technique, Heise is one of the most playful artists on the world jazz scene today.
JT Conception has won the hearts of jazz-funk enthusiasts both in Estonia and neighbouring countries. Led by Janno Trump, the ensemble has collaborated with jazz luminaries such as Nils Landgren and Philip Lassiter. In 2019, JT Conception was awarded Jazz Ensemble of the Year, and in 2023, Trump was named Jazz Musician of the Year. Regarding the brand-new album, he says: “The current decade has been full of very unexpected turns in all of our lives. The question ‘where to next?’ has reached an entirely incomprehensible dimension. The tolerance thresholds in our lives are constantly being pushed, and we no longer know exactly where they are. Living on, within and around these boundaries is precisely what our new album speaks about.”
At JT Conception’s album release party on 26 April the groove orchestra will be joined by harmonica virtuoso Mathias Heise, whose highly technical and intricate playing style has garnered attention worldwide. Henrik Palle from Politiken has dubbed Heise as “probably the best chromatic harmonica player in the world,” while Niels Overgård describes him as the greatest talent in Danish jazz in years.
