The programm "French masters" invites the listeners for a meaningful pastime in music, celebrating the exquisite creations by F. Couperin, E. de la Guerre, L. Couperin, A. Forqueray etc. Opposing the underlined virtuosity and emoional extremes of the Italian style of the era, French compositions of the 17th and 18th centuries represent subtle power and artistic elegance. And yet, performed with a fiery temperament by an internatinal trio, specially assembled for this programm: Nazar Kozhukhar (baroque violin, viola da gamba), André Lislevand (viola da gamba) and Saale Fischer (harpsichord).
Nazar Kozhukhar is a violinist, conductor, founder and Artistic Director of the ensemble The Pocket Symphony of soloists. He performs as a soloist on both modern and historical instruments. Prize-winner at the All-Union David Oistrakh Violinists’ Competition in Odessa (1988), the International Violinists’ Competition in Amsterdam (1995) and the International Unico Wilhelm, Count van Wassenaer Competition in The Hague (1996). Organiser of numerous projects in early and modern music, ranging from the early baroque to the post-avant-garde. In addition to the violin he plays the viola and the viola da gamba.
Viola da gamba player André Lislevand has collaborated with various European ensembles and orchestras since the age of 16, including Ensemble Kapsberger, the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra and the Munich Philharmonic, and with artists such as Sigiswald Kuijken, Andrea Marcon and Paul McCreesh.
Saale Fischer is a harpsichordist, publicist, and promotor. She is the founder of the Estonian baroque ensemble Floridante, founding editor of the collection “The Contemporary Harpsichordist I & II” (2014), author of several books, essays, and reviews. Since 2019, she’s the general director of the Haapsalu Early Music Festival. After obtaining her PhD in 2020, she’s been increasingly involved as a consultant or manager for large-scale cultural projects in Estonia.
