Series

Fri 03.07 - Sat 04.07.2026 • Tõrva keskväljak

Tõrva 100 Opera Days will take place on July 3–4, 2026, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the town of Tõrva. Over two summer evenings, Tõrva Central Square will transform into a unique concert venue where opera, the power of a symphony orchestra, choral music, and iconic melodies from film classics come together.

The festival will feature world-class soloists from several continents alongside Estonia’s leading ensembles and performers. A highlight of special significance is the return of George Gershwin’s opera “Porgy and Bess” to Tõrva — a work first performed here in 1998, when it became the largest open-air opera event in Estonian history.

All concerts will take place in Estonia’s largest temporary indoor concert hall, specially built for the occasion, ensuring a weatherproof experience with excellent acoustics and high artistic standards.

Tõrva 100 Opera Days offer two contrasting musical worlds across two evenings:

  • July 3: Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and the opera Porgy and Bess

  • July 4: James Bond Film Music Gala

The experience does not end with the final applause. On both July 3 and 4, the evening continues in jazz rhythms at Tõrva Central Square.

For the anniversary weekend, the internationally acclaimed Philly Joe’s Jazz Club — usually located at Freedom Square in Tallinn — will relocate to Tõrva, bringing a special atmosphere and late-night celebration vibe.

DJ Reigo Ahven will be selecting the finest tracks to keep the summer night alive and the music going long after the concerts have ended.
