No Name Jazz Fellas (LT)
Saturday, January 31, 8 p.m. at Philly Joe's Jazz Club
“No Name Jazz Fellas” is a phenomenon that has amazed and made audiences fall in love with them. It is both an artistic phenomenon and a social ideology that wryly critiques the contemporary fame culture in the music industry and on social media. What began as an artistic statement has gradually become synonymous with top-level performance and creativity. Although their name declares an “anti-fame” philosophy, the trio is well known in Lithuania and is growing their reputation beyond its borders.
The trio’s leader, Dmitrij Golovanov, is one of the most influential and active figures in modern Lithuanian jazz, an engaged community activist and educator, a recipient of both Lithuanian and international awards, and rightly acclaimed as one of today’s best Lithuanian jazz pianists with 20+ years of stage experience in various jazz festivals in Lithuania and abroad, including Pori Jazz, Cairo Jazz, London Jazz, Jazz Jamboree and many others.
The trio’s music is built on elements familiar to the listener—rhythm, harmony, melody—but their bold experimentation and openness to surprises prevent them from being confined to a single genre. They defy the modern trend that values popularity over creative content, and their name is part of that message. Already a distinctive voice in the Lithuanian jazz scene, No Name Jazz Fellas bring an authentic, unpredictable, and highly engaging experience to every performance.

Dmitrij Golovanov - piano
