Landæus Trio (SE)
LANDÆUS TRIO
Thursday, December 4, 8 p.m. at Philly Joe's Jazz Club
A tight-knit unit comprised of three musicians from different generations, the current iteration of Mathias Landæus’ trio has been inspiring audiences with their highly imaginative take on Scandi-jazz for over eight years now. Based in southern Sweden, the trio has become a sought-after rhythm section much appreciated for their versatility and seamless interplay. Over the years Landæus Trio has performed with luminaries like Seamus Blake, Rigmor Gustafsson, Otis Sandsjö, Sofia Jernberg, Tim Hagans, Jonas Kullhammar, and many others. However, the trio’s strongest commitment has remained to their own music - and this is where their imagination and unique flavor come to full blossom, as can be heard on their new album Resilience as well as their 2022 Clean Feed album A Crisis of Perception.
Landæus Trio’s latest project had them returning to the rehearsal space, to experiment and explore new approaches to interplay and composition within the time-tested trio format. The fascinating result captured on Resilience was released in May 2025. Landæus Trio is supported by the Swedish Arts Council.
