The concert season of the Vanemuine symphony orchestra will be concluded with Carl Orff’s primal and powerful cantata Carmina Burana (1937), which is probably one of the most popular choral works today. The title of the composition refers to a 13th century manuscript discovered from a Bavarian monastery in Germany, from which Orff chose 24 songs to compose his masterpiece.
Latvian pianist Vestards Šimkus will present George Gershwin’s enthralling Piano Concerto in F major, blending the lively rhythms of Charleston with the soulful essence of American blues.
The program also highlights contemporary Estonian music, beginning with an overture composed by Tõnis Kaumann.
