Rob Duguay’s SONGEVITY Trio (USA-Läti-Itaalia)
ROB DUGUAY'S SONGEVITY TRIO
Thursday, June 5, 9 p.m. at Philly Joe's Jazz Club
Bassist Rob Duguay formed SONGEVITY to dedicate his groups to performing only quality music that could be considered ‘timeless’. The ‘slow and steady’ approach to composition and performance lends to the sense that Duguay’s music has ‘longevity’. Hence, the band name acts as a pledge to the longevity of his songs and the songs of some of his heroes. SONGEVITY has featured internationally known musicians such as Abraham Burton, Steve Wilson, Justin Kauflin, and many more.
SONGEVITY will perform music from their latest release “Looking Up Through the Trees” on Mighty Quinn Records. From a swinging tribute to Clark Terry and a hauntingly slow ballad to an upbeat New Orleans ‘street beat’ and a nod to Johannes Brahms, the album features a diverse array of styles and moods. The band will also pay tribute to one of Duguay’s heroes by performing some works of the great Sonny Rollins.
Lineup:
Toms Rudzinskis - alto saxophone
Rob Duguay - bass
Alessandro D’Anna - drums
