DAMIAN DE MUIJNCK TRIO
Wednesday, December 17, 8 p.m. at Philly Joe's Jazz Club
Damian de Muijnck is a Dutch drummer and composer, recently graduated from the Master’s program at the Utrecht Conservatory. His playing is characterized by an open, lyrical approach to rhythm and a strong focus on sound and interaction. Damian is active in various ensembles both in the Netherlands and abroad, showcasing his versatility across a wide range of styles — from modern jazz to free improvisation.
In December 2025 de Muijnck will be releasing his new album “Standards with Friends”, a standard album recorded with two different trio line-ups featuring Zack Lober (double bass), Marios Charalampous (saxophone), and Bram van de Glind (trumpet/flugelhorn). To celebrate the release, he will embark on his Baltic Release Tour.
For his concert at Philly Joe’s, Damian will perform together with Estonian players Nikita Korzoun (saxophone) and Lota-Loviisa Rohtla (double bass) — an energetic and spontaneous trio moving freely between composition and improvisation, always exploring new forms of expression and interplay.
Lota-Loviisa Rohtla is a bassist and composer who has studied at the jazz department of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and also at the Sibelius Academy. The musician's greatest role models are Ray Brown, Christian McBride, Pino Palladino and Nick Campbell.
Born in Tallinn, musician and composer Nikita Korzoun has been a nominee for the Young Jazz Talent Award in both 2023 and 2025. He has studied at the Georg Ots Tallinn Music School, the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and the Sibelius Academy.
