Stuudiokontsert: Kirke Karja solo • Jazzkaar 2024
Kirke Karja is a pianist and composer, whose primary musical focus is the international trio Karja/Renard/Wandinger. They have graced the stages of several international jazz festivals in recent years, including Jazzfest Berlin, Punkt and Südtirol Jazzfest. Their extensive concert tours have led them to Finland, Norway, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, Poland and Canada. Additionally, Kirke’s arrangement of the music of Paul Hindemith is commendable, as well as her role in the Estonian Drama Theatre production Soloist, where she portrays Käbi Laretei.
As a composer, Kirke has written music for both chamber ensembles and orchestras. In 2022, she completed a piano concerto specifically composed for pianist Sten Heinoja. Kirke herself performed the same piano concerto in June 2023 in Canada alongside the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra. At the Jazzkaar studio concert, she presents her latest programme, which premiered on 9 April in Helsinki.
