Maimu Jõgeda's solo album "Nordic Reflections" release concert.
Friday, March 14, 8 p.m. at Philly Joe's Jazz Club
The accordion is an extremely versatile instrument, the beautiful and surprising characteristics of which Maimu Jõgeda wonderfully highlights with her original songs and arrangements of Estonian folk music. The musician from Rõuge has improved herself in the fields of classical, jazz, and folk music, the latter of which is closest to her heart.
Maimu Jõgeda has lived and studied in the Nordic countries for the past six years, where she graduated from the Sibelius Academy, being the second Estonian to take part in the Nordic Master in Folk Music master's program. A new album inspired by Nordic folklore was released on January 31, 2025, and the concert at Philly Joe's Club is the accordionist's only presentation concert of the new album in Tallinn.
The concert will feature songs from the new album titled "Nordic Reflections" and also Maimu's adventures in the Nordic countries. The musician with an international career creates music sincerely and skillfully conveys it at her concerts. Jõgeda has previously released the albums: "Pühendus" (2017) and “The one about…” (2020). Maimu Jõgeda has been nominated in 2018 and 2020 for the Estonian Traditional Music Awards in the categories of best new folk artist and debut album.
