Markus Eermann (EE-FI)
MARKUS EERMANN
Friday, May 1, 9 p.m. at Philly Joe's Jazz Club
Markus Eermann is an internationally recognized jazz flutist whose distinctive sound and virtuoso improvisation clearly distinguish him in today's music scene. He has performed on prestigious stages and festivals across Europe and has collaborated with top musicians such as Aaron Parks, Holger Marjamaa and the UMO Jazz Orchestra. Eermann's musical style is melodical with a great respect for traditional jazz and freedom, resulting in an experience that is both technically masterful and emotionally direct.
The concert program brings Markus' unique soundscape to the audience, where personal creations and fresh arrangements of well-known jazz pieces are intertwined. On stage, improvisational freedom and thoughtful form meet, creating a whole that is both intimate and spacious. Each piece tells its own story, some soft and dreamy, others rhythmic and vibrant. The vibraphone's ringing and warm sound creates a harmonious foundation on which the flute's sound can freely rise - creating a dialogue between these instruments is not merely accompaniment, but rather an equal conversation, where ideas flow smoothly from one to the other, offering the listener a constant listening pleasure.
Line-up:
Markus Eermann - flute
Olli Virtanen - vibraphone
Heikko Remmel - bass
