Kjetil Mulelid Trio (NOR)
KJETIL MULELID TRIO
Since their debut in 2017, the Kjetil Mulelid Trio has distinguished itself as one of Norway's leading piano trios with playing the world's nooks and crannies.
The trio released their debut album “Not Nearly Enough To Buy A House" in 2017 on Norway's prestigious Rune Grammofon label, with its reputation for hand picking some of the best experimental, electronic, jazz and improvised music from Scandinavia. Their debut received wide international acclaim, with writers most typically mentioning Keith Jarrett and Bill Evans. The praise continued for 2019’s follow-up “What You Thought Was Home” and continued in 2022 with their third album "Who Do You Love the Most?".
In the trio the focus is pared back to the classic acoustic piano trio featuring, predominantly, Mulelid’s beguiling compositions expertly balancing energetic, rhythmically complex and harmonically rich music with beautiful evocative melodies. While the trio incorporates that sense of calm, unhurried yet constantly unfolding sound world which is distinctively Scandinavian, Mulelid, in concert with bassist Rune Nergaard and drummer Andreas Winther, effortlessly conjure additional layers, tones and textures, based upon group improvisations, and informed, in large part, by each others diverse musical experiences.
Line-up:
Rune Nergaard - double bass
Andreas Winther - drums
Kjetil Mulelid - piano
