Mané Fernandes “sQuigg: playground_etiQuette” (IT-NO)
Saturday, April 4, 8 p.m. at Philly Joe's Jazz Club
Led by guitarist Mané Fernandes, this band, in its most nuclear trio format, featuring Simon Olderskog Albertsen on Drums and Luca Curcio on the double bass, comes to Estonia for the very first time, presenting their newly released album: “sQuigg: playground_etiQuette” (Carimbo Porta-Jazz 2026).
“The sQuigg” is firstly about movement and groove. It is aesthetically broad music that goes from instrumental hip-hop and electronic music to free improv and spiritual jazz. The band plays and improvises from a deep sense of friendship, joy and love. Their music is generous, and though quite intricate and rhythmically complex at times, it always seeks to connect and engage on a human level.
Expect rhythms you’ve never heard before, joyous head-nods and intense improvisation.
Lineup:
Mané Fernandes (IT) - composition, guitar effects
Luca Curcio (IT) - Double Bass, sampler
Simon Albertsen (NO) - Drums, sampler
