Big Band Day: MUBA bigbänd
Monday, April 14, 8 p.m. at Philly Joe's Jazz Club
The new Big Band Day series brings Estonia's beloved jazz orchestras to Philly Joe's Jazz Club and revives the scene from the early days of underground jazz clubs - rows of instrumentalists on stage, thrilling rhythms and a liveliness that will keep you entertained throughout the whole evening!
Our next concerts in the series will introduce the new generation of Estonian rhythm music, both singers and instrumentalists. The MUBA (Tallinn Music and Ballet School) big band is an orchestra consisting of young talented musicians that captivates with their youthful energy and beloved big band jazz tunes!
The group is led by Siim Aimla.
Siim Aimla has been active on the Estonian jazz scene for over twenty years. A developer and tireless promoter of Estonian jazz music, in addition to playing music, composing and conducting, he contributes a large part of his time to developing the MUBA rhythm music studies, leading the school's big band and teaching saxophone, ensemble and arranging. In 2025, Aimla was also awarded the 4th Class Order of the White Star by the Estonian President.
Between live sets, the music will be curated by Philly Joe's staff, playing strictly vinyl!
The ticket does not guarantee a seat, we recommend arriving early or making a table reservation for 10 € per table:
Philly Joe's jazz club is supported by Cultural Endowment of Estonia, the Ministry of Culture, Tallinn Culture and Sports Department, private patreons, and many more.
