Alterne (BE/DK/EE) • Folk Music Harvest Party

Alterne is a brand-new trio based in Helsinki, inviting listeners into an atmospheric universe where poetic melodies, beautiful harmonies, and virtuosic solos resonate. Fate brought all three members of the trio to Finland's Sibelius Academy at the same time during their studies, and that's where Alterne's music began. The band is led by Ida Marie Jessen, who, in addition to singing, plays the kantele and violin. Oscar Beerten plays the violin, guitar, Norwegian-style fiddle, and Maimu Jõgeda plays the accordion and stomp-box. With their original music, Alterne creates a musical portrait that brings an innovative approach to folk music. The ensemble's music can be described as "dream folk," combining elements of folk music, pop music, and ambient music.
