FunCOOLio. Fusion of Horizons (LV)
Friday, October 24, 8 p.m. at Philly Joe's Jazz Club
FunCOOLio is a band from Latvia performing music in the style of instrumental funk, fusion and acid jazz. The ensemble performs its original compositions using the unique sound of the Hammond organ.
Boldly experimenting with proportions, the Latvian quartet FunCOOLio presents its new set of instrumental compositions in the Baltic Fusion style. These pieces reflect a distinctive jazz-rock ornamentation — the thematic development is enriched by rhythmic intricacy and sharp, yet organic harmonic turns. Special attention is given to melodies — memorable, vivid, and strikingly clear. The compositions are written by the members of FunCOOLio Georgijs Panfilovs and Deniss Gradaļevs.
The band’s latest releases include the funky-fusion album “Funcoolio. Vol 2” and a bossa-nova LP “Play Bossa-Nova”, which is co-written with Estonian singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer Ruslan Px.
Line-up:
Deniss Gradaļevs - bass guitar
Georğijs Panfilovs - guitar
