Håkan Broström Quartet creates a unique soundscape, blending tradition with innovation, lyricism with energy, and deep passionate interplay.
Håkan Broström has embarked on thrilling musical journeys both as a bandleader and sideman. He has worked with legends like Bobo Stenson, Joey Calderazzo, Palle Danielsson, Esbjörn Svensson, Ulf Wakenius, and the incomparable Jeff "Tain" Watts. His musical odyssey extends beyond borders, having graced stages across the globe. Through the Norrbotten Big Band and The Swedish Radio Jazz Orchestra, he's cast spells alongside iconic figures like Dave Liebman, Kenny Wheeler, McCoy Tyner, Chris Potter, Joe Lovano, and the legendary Toots Thielemans. Estonian pianist Britta Virves has also collaborated with Broström and contributed to his 2021 album "My Cat Siri".
Katarina Kochetova was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, but grew up in Belgrade, Serbia, and is now based in Vienna. In 2018, she was accepted into the Music and Arts Private University in Vienna, where she studied jazz piano with Oliver Kent. During her final year of studies, she took the opportunity to participate in an exchange program at Sweden’s Royal College of Music in Stockholm. While there, she actively performed and engaged with the local jazz scenes in both Stockholm and Gothenburg.
Hugo Löf born in 2002 into a musical family in Piteå, Sweden, began playing electric bass at the age of 10. He is currently completing his Bachelor's degree in Jazz at the Royal College of Music (KMH) in Stockholm. In 2024, Hugo was honored with the prestigious Jan Wallander Prize, recognizing his exceptional virtuosity and imaginative improvisational talent.
Jonas Bäckman hails from the charming outskirts of Umeå, in the heart of Ersmark. He has graced institutions such as Midgårdsskolan, Skurups Folkhögskola, and the Kungl. Musikhögskolan in Stockholm. Jonas has lended his rhythmic brilliance to a multitude of captivating ensembles, such as the Håkan Broström Quartet, Britta Virves Trio and Stockholm Hot 7. His musical talents also intertwine with Jonny Ek and Erik Söderlind's artistic creations, as well as the electrifying Fredrik Kronkvist Fonksters, among many others.
