What happens when two musicians meet by chance at a train station? The mutual liking between Julien Stella and Bastien Weeger was so strong that they decided right then and there on the train station platform to start creating music together. The music of NoSax NoClar is playful, simple and creative, showing vividly how beautifully and wittily the saxophone and clarinet can sound together. At Jazzkaar the duo will present their fresh studio album No Dåhïss, inspired by Celtic and Berber music.
NoSax NoClar consists of two eccentric musicians, music producer and multi-instrumentalist Julien Stella (who also holds the title of French beatbox champion) and saxophone virtuoso Bastien Weeger. The duo’s unrestricted music is fuelled by the endless curiosity of two masterful wind instrument players in various musical cultures of different nations. NoSax NoClar’s music has been praised by prestigious publications such as Toute la Culture, Citizen Jazz and Culture Jazz among others. Guillaume Malvoisin from the web magazine Point Break described the duo as follows: “It is complex and tightly woven music that still always remains playful... /.../ NoSax NoClar wanders along the coastline, moving forward with gentle dance steps like a wind breezing from Israel to Egypt, with moments of calm and no visible storms, yet with immense energy.”
