Mexican-American flutist, soprano, and Artistic Director Beatriz Macías stands out as one of the most versatile and dynamic figures in the classical music scene today. Acclaimed for the “voice-like beauty” of her playing, Macías has cultivated an international career that makes her highly sought after as a soloist, orchestral flutist, and pedagogue.

Her journey began at the age of eighteen when she made her solo debut at the prestigious D.A.R. Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. A distinguished prizewinner in numerous international competitions, including the Haifa International Flute Competition (Israel), Pappoutsakis Flute Competition (USA), Alexander & Buono International Flute Competition (USA), and the Concert Artist Guild Competition (USA), Macías’ talent was further recognized when she was named a Young Performing Artist by Yamaha Corporation of America in 2019.

With a career that spans the globe, Macías has made a significant impact as an orchestral musician. She has held the Principal Flute position with the Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra and has successfully navigated trials with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and the Birmingham Royal Ballet. Her impressive repertoire includes performances with renowned ensembles such as the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Dutch National Ballet & Opera Orchestra, Royal Opera House ‘La Monnaie,’ as well as the Finnish National Opera and the Houston Symphony, among many others. Currently, she serves as the Principal Flute of the Estonian National Opera and Ballet.

As a vocalist, Macías’ lyric coloratura soprano is a natural extension of her musicianship. Her concerts have garnered support from esteemed organizations, including the Jean Sibelius Society in Finland, recognizing her commitment to championing and commissioning new works for soprano by Finnish composers and introducing Spanish opera’s “Zarzuela” genre to Finnish audiences.

Passionate about nurturing the next generation of talent, Macías founded the Tampere Flute Fest (TFF) in 2020, an international festival designed to elevate young flutists and provide them with essential career training and guidance. She is also the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the Puerto Rico Flute Festival, further extending her influence in the flute community.

Macías earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the Boston Conservatory of Music in Massachusetts and a Master of Music degree from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in Belgium. She has studied under notable instructors such as Geralyn Coticone (Former Piccolo, Boston Symphony), Carlos Bruneel (Former Solo Flute, La Monnaie Opera House), and Thaddeus Watson (Former Solo Piccolo, Frankfurt Radio Orchestra).

Macías plays on a Muramatsu flute with a Mancke wooden headjoint, further enhancing her distinctive sound.

“Beatriz is a pure and holistic musician who is bringing new excitement into the world of classical music!"
Antony Hermus

She has developed her skills with renowned musicians such as Tabea Zimmermann, Maxim Rysanov, Ettore Causa, and Nils Mönkemeyer.

Kadriorg Palace is one the most well known and beautiful historic concert halls in Estonia offering memorable music experiences already for many decades. The tradition of performing music in the baroque palace goes back to 18th century when court music accompanied the daily life. The palace has had the pleasure to welcome many international artists and ensembles for outstanding performances.
The construction of the Kadriorg Palace was started by the Tsar Peter the Great of Russia in 1718. It was named Catharinenthal (in Estonian Kadriorg) in honour of his wife Catherine I. The palace was designed by the Italian architect Nicola Michetti and its abundantly decorated main hall is one of the most exquisite examples of baroque architecture both in Estonia and in northern Europe.
Kadriorg Palace has always been the crown jewel of Tallinn. The small festive tsars’ palace in the style of Roman Baroque, surrounded by a regular garden, with fountains, hedges and flowerbeds, planned after the model of Versailles.
The palace was a summer residence of Russian emperors untill 1917. In the 1920s, and again in 1946-1991 palace served as the main building of the Art Museum of Estonia. In the 1930s, it was the residence of the Head of State of the Estonian Republic. In 2000, it was opened as the Kadriorg Art Museum, which displays the largest collection of old Russian and Western European art in Estonia.

Music has been performed in the palace halls since the 18th century. In the past few decades, the most brilliant Estonian and international musicians have delighted listeners in the palace. Regular concerts started to take place in the Kadriorg Palace again in 2014, when the museum launched the Palace Music Concert Series. The extraordinary acoustics and the magnificent interior of the main hall make every concert a truly enjoyable artistic experience.

The artistic director of the Palace Music Concert Series is Aare Tammesalu.
In cooperation of the Art Museum of Estonia.
