Karja/Renard/Wandinger is an international ensemble formed in 2019, focusing on experimental, freely improvised music. In summer 2022 they released their dynamic debut album named The Wrong NeedleKarja/Renard/Wandinger goes XL is a brand new project where the trio music expands even larger. New soundscapes will be added by four brilliant musicians with whom the trio members have also collaborated before: Austrian pianist Elias Stemeseder, South Korean drummer living in the Netherlands, Sun-Mi Hong, German double bass player Felix Henkelhausen and Finnish trumpeter Verneri Pohjola.

Trio Karja/Renard/Wandinger is led by the vigorous and awarded Estonian pianist Kirke Karja. Together with French bassist Etienne Renard and German drummer Ludwig Wandinger they focus on extended techniques, elements from free improvisation and contemporary composition, drawing inspiration from old creepy silent films and broken machines. In 2022 Karja/Renard/Wandinger performed at numerous festivals, including the JazzFest in Berlin and the Punkt Festival in Norway. In 2023 the trio will go on a two-week tour in Canada and record a new album at the Budapest Music Center among many other things.
