A lunch break that invigorates the mind. The Thursday lunch concerts will bring audiences the best selection of the Friday night programme.
The "Symphonic Lunches" series opens with Tõnu Kõrvits's new symphonic poem, Hymns to the Northern Lights. Robert Schumann's fantasy-like Piano Concerto has been described as the composer's musical declaration of love to his wife, Clara Schumann. South Korean pianist Yekwon Sunwoo, whose global success was launched by winning the Van Cliburn Competition in 2017, will perform the first movement of the piece with ERSO. The second half of the concert features Ludwig van Beethoven's brilliant Symphony No. 5, whose main theme, the “knocking of fate” motif, is known to every music lover. ERSO is conducted by Chief Conductor Olari Elts.
The concert is without intermission and lasts one hour.
