Jason Hunter Baltic Quartet is a collection of some of the Baltic state's finest jazz musicians under the leadership of American trumpeter and composer Jason Hunter, recently assembled to record and perform original compositions and timeless classics. Their sound can be described as a soulful, fresh, and uplifting take on the modern jazz approach playing styles such as rhythm and blues, swing and latin jazz, all grounded heavily in a soul and blues foundation. Jason Hunter Baltic Quartet will be performing music from their new album “ImagiNation” released on Jersikas Records, bringing together four counties to provide an exciting and soulful experience through the universal language of music.
Jason Hunter is originally from Los Angeles California. After studying music at both Fullerton College and Berklee College of Music with jazz greats such as, Mark Whitfield, Ralph Peterson and Tiger Okoshi, Jason has been performing with various projects as a side man and band leader all over the world. Hunter is currently residing in Tallinn and performs alongside some of Estonia’s premier jazz, funk, and pop artist as a trumpeter as well as arranging, composing and producing for many projects. His debut album titled “From Afar” was a modern jazz exploration that's compositions have been performed and well received across the Baltic states at jazz venues such as The Jazz Cellar, Gargzdai and festivals Jazzkaar, Viimsi Happy Jazz Festival, and Birstonas.
The renowned Latvian Organist Atis Andersons and Lithuanian drum great Augustas Baronas provide the core of the wonderful mix of styles. One of Estonia's top alto saxophonists Allan Kaljaste joins Hunter on the front line playing passionate horn melodies and solos to round out the band.
